Complexity and the Emergence of Life
In the future we may know that life exists elsewhere in the universe, but for now the only biology we know is found on the Earth. So are we very unusual or is life very common? Said another way: How hard is it for nature to create life from chemistry and physics? This is one of the most exciting unsolved problems of our time. I'll discuss important aspects of the emergence of life together with my lab's attempts to understand parts of this interesting question.
